Position Summary
Are you an experienced surgical dental assistant who understands complex implant cases and is ready to take your career in a new direction?

We are seeking a highly organized, tech-savvy Surgical Dental Assistant to transition into a Dental Laboratory Case Manager role with a growing dental laboratory in Charlotte, North Carolina, specializing in complex implant restorations and All-on-X cases.

This is a unique opportunity for someone with a strong clinical background in oral surgery, periodontics, or full-arch implant procedures who wants to leverage their clinical knowledge in a non-patient-facing position.

Rather than assisting chairside, you will become a key liaison between the dental laboratory and its referring doctors, helping ensure that complex implant cases are submitted correctly, properly documented, and move efficiently through the laboratory production process.

A significant part of this role involves reviewing incoming digital scans for accuracy and completeness, identifying potential scanning issues, and communicating with clinical teams to help resolve problems before cases enter production. Your hands-on experience with intraoral scanning and surgical workflows will be invaluable in helping referring practices troubleshoot challenges and improve their submissions.

In addition to managing cases, you will be responsible for entering case information into laboratory management software, maintaining accurate records, and providing exceptional communication and customer service to referring dental professionals.

This is a smaller, collaborative laboratory environment where everyone contributes to the team's success. The ideal candidate will be comfortable wearing multiple hats, assisting with additional administrative responsibilities when needed, and growing into expanded operational responsibilities over time.

Previous surgical dental assisting experience and a strong understanding of implant dentistry are essential for this opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:
Digital Scan Review & Clinical Support:
  • Review incoming intraoral scans and digital case submissions for accuracy, completeness, and potential technical issues.
  • Identify scanning deficiencies that could impact the accuracy or successful fabrication of implant restorations.
  • Communicate directly with referring dental practices when scans need clarification, correction, or resubmission.
  • Provide practical guidance and troubleshooting tips to clinical teams regarding scanning techniques and best practices.
  • Utilize clinical knowledge of implant dentistry, surgical workflows, and restorative procedures to identify potential case concerns.
  • Work closely with laboratory technicians and designers to ensure the necessary information is available before cases enter production.
Complex Implant & All-on-X Case Management:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the laboratory and referring dental providers.
  • Coordinate highly complex All-on-X, full-arch, and implant-supported restorative cases.
  • Review incoming case information to ensure all necessary documentation, scans, and clinical instructions are included.
  • Track cases throughout the laboratory workflow to ensure timely progression and delivery.
  • Communicate case updates, questions, and deadlines to referring practices.
  • Coordinate with laboratory technicians and internal team members to resolve case-related issues.
  • Help develop more efficient communication and submission workflows for referring providers.
Case Entry & Laboratory Administration:
  • Accurately enter new cases into the laboratory's case management software.
  • Maintain organized and complete digital case records.
  • Track incoming submissions, outstanding information, and case deadlines.
  • Monitor case status and follow up on missing documentation or unresolved questions.
  • Ensure case information is properly communicated between referring offices and laboratory production teams.
  • Assist with additional administrative tasks and office operations as needed.
Referring Doctor Communication & Customer Service:
  • Develop strong professional relationships with referring doctors and their clinical teams.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service through timely, accurate, and proactive communication.
  • Professionally troubleshoot case concerns and coordinate solutions.
  • Communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively.
  • Maintain a high level of responsiveness and follow-through.
  • Represent the laboratory professionally while helping referring practices feel supported throughout the case process.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • Previous surgical dental assisting experience, preferably in oral surgery, periodontics, or implant dentistry.
  • Strong understanding of dental implants, full-arch restorations, and All-on-X treatment workflows.
  • Hands-on familiarity with digital intraoral scanning and the ability to recognize common scanning errors.
  • Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new software systems quickly.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding customer service and relationship-building abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex cases and competing priorities.
  • Comfortable communicating directly with doctors, clinical teams, and laboratory technicians.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a small, collaborative team.
  • Willingness to assist with additional administrative responsibilities as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience assisting with All-on-X or full-arch implant procedures.
  • Experience with intraoral scanners and digital implant workflows.
  • Familiarity with implant restorative components and laboratory case requirements.
  • Experience troubleshooting scan quality or assisting clinicians with digital impressions.
  • Previous experience coordinating complex surgical or restorative cases.
  • Familiarity with dental laboratory operations or case management software.
  • Experience communicating with referring providers or coordinating between clinical and laboratory teams.

Previous dental laboratory employment is not required. We are particularly interested in surgical dental assistants who have strong clinical knowledge, excellent technology skills, and the desire to transition into a laboratory-based career.
